What we do

Gardiner Associates Training and Research, more commonly referred to as GATR, was established in 1994 to provide Training and Assessments to the Fire Investigation Industry.

GATR offers a focused classroom experience, a purpose built fireground, using furnished and electrically energised compartments which are constructed of building materials in common use.

Skills For Justice Awards

Level 2 Award & Level 5 Certificate

Gardiner Associates offer accreditation to those carrying out the role of Fire Investigator either as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Investigator with our Direct claim status awarded By Skills for Justice.


The Tier 1 and Tier 2 standard is defined by the National Fire Chiefs Council.

These qualifications create opportunities for progression from, and into, existing fire and rescue related roles that require specialist fire investigation training such as advanced fire and explosion, including terrorist, investigations.

Skills For Justice Awards

 Research

Gardiner Associates have undertaken over 50 research projects and continue during each set of burns to probe further into the forensic issues that are associated with fires. The Projects have included the search seizure and visualization of Finger marks from fire damaged rooms, Retrieval of data from Hard drives and telephones following fire involvement and the recovery of DNA from fire scenes.
